The latest report by the Radix Big Tent Housing Commission, identifies the significant issues that the UK faces from a lack of ‘rightsizing’.
The research suggests many over-65s are stuck in homes which are too large or expensive for them to maintain, while younger people are unable to find the family homes they need.
With an aging population, enabling ‘rightsizing’ for those in larger properties could free up around 870,000 homes that would help to ease the nation’s housing crisis.
The report puts forward recommendations that could be adopted to support rightsizing, unlock the housing market and providing better housing options for people of all ages.
